Dangerous or not?

Last night, i was just letting my mind wander before i fall asleep and was reminded that i haven't been drinking green tea for a long time.

Drinking green tea every morning is something i picked up on my journey to a smaller me. I remember reading it from somewhere that it has zero calories, increases our metabolism rate, increases our bodies' ability to burn fats and a load of other health benefits (which you can read from here and of course green tea is not suitable for everyone!). I am not sure to what extent did green tea play a role in my weight loss though because i did quite a major lifestyle overhaul. I am just very used to preparing it for breakfast now, have been for the past 2 years.

Anyway, back to last night. I was then thinking about the box of durian in my fridge. So i got excited because i could have durian for breakfast! THEN. This thought flashed through - will i get poisoned if i have durian and green tea together? (I used to have a similar thought involving green tea and chocolate.) But i decided that it is too heavy a topic to think about right before sleeping so i slept on it.

The first thing i did this morning, was to google "green tea and durian".

Things like "green tea and durian cream cake" and "green tea sponge pancake with durian ice cream" came up. So i guess it should be okay to consume that combination.

But. To be sure, i googled "toxic food combinations" and i got things like..
  • proteins digested by other proteins that will release toxic species (to which i did not see any concrete food items being mentioned -.-)
  • potatoes (nightshade family)
  • fruits which have a pit
  • cherry and milk (said to be a myth)
  • Korean salted fish roe and chocolate
  • crab and persimmon (and other interesting ones here! keep reading on, some of the discussions are pretty funny, especially by goodhealthgourmet)
The closest one i've found is durian and beer!

Then i tried "dangerous food combinations" and i got..
  • alcohol and diet soda
  • coffee and breakfast cereal (polyphenols, in coffee, reduces iron absorption)
  • tofu and honey (from here!)
Okay. I'm a little bored and cross-eyed by the forums, even though i've come across several interesting reads. And i can safely conclude for now, that, durian and green tea are still "okay combinations".

Shall end off with the benefits of durian. Don't shun from durian just because they are fatty hehe.
